While we draw on our overall experiences from the project we focus specifically on the photographs generated by, and taken of, one key participant-Alice. The ethnography consisted of formal interviews and informal observations with 52 participants and photography of 29 of them. In making our case, we draw on our experiences from an 18-month long photo-ethnography of people living in rural Alabama who use methamphetamine. In this paper we advocate the use of photo-elicitation techniques suggesting that they offer a powerful addition to standard data collection and presentation techniques.

Though not new, the use of images within criminology is an underused technique. Images can be researcher-generated or participant-generated and each has particular benefits and challenges. Photo-elicitation is a qualitative interview technique where researchers solicit responses, reactions, and insights from participants by using photographs or other images as stimuli. Para ilustrar estas ideas se recurrirá de forma sucinta, como caso de estudio, a las consecuencias del Prestige en España Al cuestionar los marcos de la victimidad y de la irreversibilidad del ecocidio, se debatirán algunas conclusiones sobre el significado de ciertas prácticas informales de memorialización en procesos de victimización en masa. Partiendo del paralelismo entre las violaciones de derechos humanos a gran escala y la compleja noción de ecocidio, se realizarán algunas consideraciones conceptuales dentro del campo de la victimología verde y la justicia restaurativa. To illustrate these ideas, the Prestige case in Spain will be briefly presented as a case study. By questioning the frameworks of victimhood and the irreversibility of ecocide, some conclusions about the meaning of informal practices of memorialization in mass victimization can be discussed. A few cases have been presented showing practical applications of green and smart technologies in buildings.ĭeparting from the parallelism between large-scale human rights violations and the complex notion of ecocide, some conceptual remarks will be drawn within the realm of green victimology and restorative justice. The communication architecture is also presented emphasizing on various entities and activities in different levels of communication between various digital components of a GSB. The GSB concept is discussed in details, suitably supported with the architectural models of overall and the various components of a GSB. Promises and challenges in attaining this goal are meticulously explored. This chapter suggests merging green and smart technologies to have green smart building (GSB) with the aim of offering the populations a smart and eco-friendly living. Though smart buildings are the positive catalyst towards sustainability, the excessive use of electronic devices puts a check in attaining the overall green goal. In this chapter, a comprehensive discussion on the green and smart building is presented, considering how the buildings are made green and smart and how they support in developing sustainable cities. Non-sustainable buildings have threatened the ecosystem globally. El modelo cardinal del estudio integra diversas urbes del contexto español y europeo e incluye algunos arquetipos internacionales, itinerario que desemboca en la importancia de diseñar un “mapeo criminológico” de estos fenómenos y el empleo de metodología propia de la justicia restaurativa, para establecer los vínculos entre el espacio sensorial y el paisaje sonoro, y entre el delito o el daño social medioambiental. A tal efecto, nos decantamos por incrementar el uso de métodos como los proporcionados por la sociología interpretativa, reinterpretados por la criminología cultural verde a través de técnicas dispares y sugerimos medidas alternativas a la pura sanción penal en la resolución de conflictos. Con el apoyo de la idea de una ciudad ecológica, también aborda un patrón de urbe que ofrezca un estilo de vida medioambientalmente más pacífico y menos conflictivo. Este artículo, bajo el prisma de la criminología verde y la criminología cultural, analiza diversos aspectos del ruido en los espacios urbanos y subraya la convergencia sensitiva entre fenómenos ruidosos, odoríferos y lumínicos, como parte del enfoque de una criminología sensorial emergente “visual, olfativa y auditiva” y del estudio de los usos y significados estéticos de la vida urbana y cultural.
